Horticulture and Plant Health Division
Background
The mission of the Horticulture and Plant Health Division is:
'To achieve the highest possible standards of plant health and to promote the development of an efficient primary horticultural sector'
The Horticulture and Plant Health Division is responsible for:
- formulating policies and measures to prevent the entry and spread of non-indigenous quarantine pests, to control regulated pests and to negotiate the defence of the national plant health (in co-operation with the Forest Service)
- the enforcement of marketing standards for fruit, vegetables, honey and potatoes.
