Environmental Sustainability and Agri-Food

The session on ‘Environmental Sustainability and Agri-Food’ will see an overview of policy developments in this area at European and national level followed by a panel discussion with representatives from the EPA, Ornua, Teagasc and FoodCloud.

Session 3 will examine the area of environmental sustainability in the agri-food sector and issues of relevance here include air and water quality, climate change and biodiversity. Pierre Bascou, Director of DG Agri, European Commission will address the EU sustainability targets, particularly those relating to climate change, and what is being done at EU level in the sector. Bill Callanan, Chief Inspector in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will outline the policies being implemented nationally. A panel discussion will then take place with Laura Burke, Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency, Kevin Lane, CEO of Ornua, Aiobheann O’Brien, CEO of Food Cloud, and Gerry Boyle, Director of Teagasc.
