Policy Drivers

Following the Taoiseach’s address, Commissioner Hogan will discuss the future direction of the CAP and then a panel made up of OECD, DAFM and IFA representatives will consider other policy drivers such as Brexit and developments in international trade negotiations.

Session 2 will address some of the key policy drivers for the sector, such as reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, Brexit, and trade liberalisation. EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan will give an address on the future direction of the CAP and this will be followed by a panel discussion on these policy drivers by Carmel Cahill, Deputy Director of the OECD Trade and Agriculture Directorate, Brendan Gleeson, Assistant Secretary General in the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine, and Joe Healy, President of the Irish Farmers Association.
