Appointments to Bord Bia
The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan TD, has made three new appointments to the Board of An Bord Bia.
Mr. Padraig Walshe and Mr. Jackie Cahill, the recently elected Presidents of the IFA and the ICMSA respectively, have been appointed as from 1 February 2006. The third new appointee is Mr. Mel O'Rourke from Navan, Co. Meath who has knowledge and experience of horticulture. The Minister has also re-appointed Ms. Marian Byrne and Mr Micheal Kilcoyne for a further term.
Paying tribute to outgoing members, Mr. Dan Lenihan, Mr. John Dillon and Mr. Pat O'Rourke, Minister Coughlan said each had made a significant contribution to developing Ireland-the Food Island.

Note for EditorsBord Bia has responsibility for promoting and developing the marketing of Irish food, drink livestock and horticulture and works in partnership with the sectors to develop markets for Irish produce at home and overseas and to promote the consumption of horticultural produce.
