Minister Coughlan announces the issue of Annual Payment Statements to farmers for 2005 and eServices available to farmers

Farmers Payment Statement

The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., announced today that over 141,000 Annual Payment Statements for the year 2005 will issue to farmers around the country over the next few days, the total value of the payments recorded on the Statements being in excess €2.3 billion.

Minister Coughlan said that the Statement gives details to each farmer of all payments made to him/her by the Department during the period 1st January 2005 to 31st December 2005. Any queries regarding payments for the various schemes should be addressed to the relevant Contact Point listed on the back of the Statement (with Lo-Call phone number).

The Minister added that she understood that the Payment Statement has proven in previous years to be a very useful document and asked that farmers retain the Statement carefully for future reference.

eServices Available to Farmers

Minister Coughlan stated that she was also taking the opportunity to encourage farmers to register calf births online on the Department's Animal Identification and Movement (AIM) system by using its eServices facilities. The service, which is available free of charge, also allows farmers to: -

  • Confirm the animals in their herd recorded on CMMS;
  • Verify movement of animals into and out of their herd, and
  • Apply for Certificates of Compliance to move animals from farm to farm.

The Minister went on to say that if farmers have not done so already they can register for eServices by clicking on the eServices icon on the Department's website www.agriculture.gov.ie and following the instructions.

Minister Coughlan concluded by saying that she hoped that this initiative will be availed of by a large number of farmers and that she considered it to be an important step in the Department's aim to upgrade its customer service.
