Minister Coughlan appoints Michael Murphy to the Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal

The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., today announced the appointment of Mr Michael Murphy to the Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal. Mr Murphy fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr Padraig Walshe following his election as President of the IFA.

Minister Coughlan paid tribute to Padraig Walshe who has been a member of the Tribunal since its establishment in 1990 and who has performed an excellent job throughout that period. His understanding and experience of the dairy sector and his willingness to give generously of his time to this role made him a valuable member of the Tribunal.

The Minister said she was pleased that Michael Murphy, the outgoing chairman of the IFA Dairy Committee, had accepted her offer of appointment. She said he would bring a wealth of experience to this important role from which the dairy sector generally would benefit.
