Coughlan extends REPS deadline

The Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., has announced an extension to 13 October 2006 of the deadline for farmers wishing to submit new REPS 3 plans before the present scheme closes.

The deadline for new REPS plans had been fixed for the end of September but Minister Coughlan said that she was extending it by two weeks.

"I am well aware of the level of demand for REPS 3 and my Department will do all it can to accommodate applicants".

Minister Coughlan urged farmers wishing to meet the new deadline to contact their planners immediately. She added that work was continuing in her Department on REPS 4 and that, subject to approval from the EU Commission, the new scheme would be open for applications in 2007.
