Minister Wallace presents National Awards for the 75th National Ploughing Championships at the Wolseley Hotel, Tullow

Mary Wallace T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food, today presented the National Awards for the 75th National Ploughing Championships at a ceremony in the Mount Wolseley Hotel in Tullow Co. Carlow.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Minister Wallace congratulated the host farmers, the Nolan and Byrne families, and the entire community of Grangeford and Tullow for opening their doors to the thousands of visitors to this years Ploughing Championships.

This year the National Ploughing Championships celebrates its 75th anniversary. Minister Wallace acknowledged the effort of Anna May McHugh and her team at the National Ploughing Association.

"Year after year we get record attendances, bigger and better stands, new and exciting shows at the Ploughing. It represents an incredible effort on behalf of Anna May McHugh and her team at the National Ploughing Association."

Presenting the awards the Minister took the opportunity to wish good luck to Eamon Treacey from Carlow and Liam O'Driscoll from Cork who are representing Ireland in the World Ploughing Contest over the coming days.
