Coughlan announces extension of Temporary Leasing Scheme closing date

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., today announced an extension to the closing date for the first stage of the 2007/2008 Temporary Leasing Scheme.

The closing date for applications to the Scheme has been extended to Friday, 13th July 2007. Milk Purchasers should note that the closing date for offering quota to or requesting quota from the National Pool has been extended to Friday, 20th July 2007.

The Minister reminded milk producers that the price payable for leased quota is fixed at 3.5 cents per litre for the 1st Stage of the Scheme. A second stage will have a fixed price of 2.5 cent per litre and a closing date for applications of Friday, 11th January 2008. The second stage will be completely separate from the first stage and fresh applications will be required from all intending participants at that time.
