Smith Opens Ballinamore Agricultural Show

Brendan Smith TD, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food today officially opened the Ballinamore Agricultural show in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.

Minister Smith complimented the show organisers on a huge range of competitions and events taking place during the day. He said that the show was a very important event for the north west region, and was a central part of the annual week long Ballinamore August family festival. He also stated that the festival attracts huge crowds to Leitrim during the Summer period and was a real showcase of the best of what the region has to offer both visitors and people living in the region.

The Minister also said "Ballinamore show is a unique family day out, in a lovely part of the country offering the visitor the chance to see some of the finest livestock around and a range of other activities from home baking to arts and crafts.  My compliments to the organisers again this year for their voluntary input to making the show such a successful event".

The Minister concluded by wishing the organising committee, the exhibitors, the sponsors, the many visitors, and indeed everybody involved with the Ballinamore show an enjoyable day out.
