Minister Smith confirms intention to amend Greyhound Industries Act 1958

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Brendan Smith TD, today confirmed that he is to introduce legislation in the autumn to amend the Greyhound Industries Act 1958 to put the welfare standards for greyhounds on a statutory basis.

Minister Smith said that there was already a very comprehensive guide to the care and welfare of greyhounds to which he now intends to give statutory effect.
