Consultation Process for Development of Organic Sector Strategy 2025

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Andrew Doyle T.D., has launched a public consultation process on the new strategic plan for the development of the Organic Sector. The consultation process will be open for a seven week period from Thursday, 12 April to Thursday, 31 May 2018.

The Minister recently established an Organic Sector Strategy Group which is tasked with the development of a strategic plan for the Organic Sector to 2025. This Group comprises of representatives of the Department, Teagasc, Bord Bia, BIM, IFA, ICMSA, ICSA and a wide range of stakeholders including the Organic Meat, Dairy, Horticulture, Cereals and Aquaculture Sectors.

It is expected the draft Organic Sector strategy will be presented to the Minister within six to eight months.

Members of the public and interested parties are now invited to submit proposals for consideration in the preparation of the new 5-7 year Strategic plan for the development of the Organic Sector, including sectoral and cross sectoral recommendations,  market developments, training and education, public awareness and wider EU policy.
