Press and Information Office

The Press and Information Office is the primary point of contact between the Department and members of the media, as well as members of the general public. The office is responsible for responding to all queries regarding the work of the Minister, Minister of State and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

The organisation of media briefing and placement of advertising also falls under the remit of this office.

Our Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube accounts are managed by the Communications Division in the Department. Any material posted to these platforms is posted by the staff of the Communications Division.

 

What to expect

Twitter

Material posted to our Twitter page generally contains the following:

  • Press Releases on the Departments activities and Ministerial speeches
  • Videos/Tweetcards about new initiatives the Department has launched
  • Event information (such as Knowledge Transfer events, conferences etc)
  • Alerts about new content on our website 
  • Emergency communications – weather warnings, forest fires, disease alerts
  • Other practical information on services available through the Department
  • Re-tweets from Department agencies, other Government Departments or Government Ministers

If you follow us on Twitter, we will not automatically follow you back. This is to help our followers identify other Twitter accounts that we are following such as other Government Departments, Houses of the Oireachtas, relevant European institutions and accounts of relevance to Ireland.

We welcome feedback from our followers and will try to join the conversation where possible. However, we may not be able to reply individually to all the messages we receive via Twitter.  The best means of communicating a query to us is by using the Contact Form link on our website.

Comments posted on videos are the views of individuals and do not represent the views of the Department or the Government. We do not accept responsibility for the content of any comment and reserve the right to remove comments that:
